For Windows and Mac OS X… why wasn’t this made 5 years ago?

I don’t know about 5 years ago, but for the last year or more I’ve been using Foldershare, which is now owned by Microsoft. It works across Mac and PC, it allows me to keep any folder synchronized and is free. It’s not perfect as sometimes changes don’t seem to get handled properly and there seems to be a limit as to the number of files that can be in a sync folder. Because of that bug/feature I’ve had to break several folders up into smaller groupings (instead of all Documents having project or topic specific folders to sync).
