Hollywood’s content ecosystem moves a few steps closer to launch | Technology | Los Angeles Times

Five DRM (digital rights management) technologies. As much as I respect the people working on this system until the specifications can be simplified there is no way this is going to work in a serious way.

Clearly there has to be a system for allowing the transport of digitally protected material across a series of devices. However I wonder if a single player who finally realizes the value of letting their content out of the walled garden is going to become the de facto solution here. A multi-studio, multi-electronics, multi-drm, multi-service consortium is going to too busy deciding whether the table at the peace talks will be round or square to accomplish much of anything.
