round and round

Keeping up with Instagram is hard.

If you follow me on Instagram you might notice that things show up on my blog a few days (or weeks) after they photo is on Instagram. I use IFTTT to automate a lot of posting and cross posting. Anything that has the #IFTTT tag gets reposted to Twitter immediately. For WordPress it’s configured it to arrange the post as a draft.

Leaving posts as a draft is great as it gives me a chance to loop back and add more commentary than I normally share on Instagram. It just means I have to remember to check WordPress regularly to publish the posts. When I finally remember to check the drafts folder there will be four or five posts waiting days to a week before they are edited.

In the end it really doesn’t matter where or when or even if someone sees the photo. I’m taking them for myself. I’m posting them publishing helps me become better a better photographer. Whether anyone sees them, now or later, doesn’t matter. There’s still value in pushing the Publish button.
