Flickr loves sunsets

(or, another example of “the best camera is the one you have with you”)

A couple of weeks back we went down to the Seattle waterfront for dinner. Some touristy seafood sounded like a promising idea for that “can’t figure out what to eat” conundrum. It was a beautiful evening and we even saw a pod of Orcas just off the pier by our restaurant. That was a first for both of us in all the time we’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest.

After dinner we walked out to the end of the pier to enjoy the late summer sunset. In the shadow of Seattle’s Great Wheel there was a sailboat filled with people out for a cruise in the fading light. Seeing a nice moment and without one of my other cameras, I pulled out my Google Pixel 6 to get a few shots.

With a few adjustments in Lightroom I uploaded the photo to Flickr this weekend. The Flickr editorial team added it to the Explore page and by the time you read this it will be my 7th 8th 9th most popular photo I have ever posted there. Not bad for a quick smartphone snap to cap the evening.

It was a beautiful way to end the evening with my favorite person. I’m glad other people enjoy the photo as much as I do.
